ps :although i don't really like thom yorke and jonny greenwood much , i like their music and i think it's great sometimes to seperate the art from the artists. this isn't a shrine for the members but a music appreciation shrine :3

Radiohead and me

i've been introduced by Radiohead with the spotify "discovery of the day"but my uncle knew that band too , since he had a full collection of vinyles , including radiohead one , for example the bends ( it was the first album i discovered from them ).him and my father apparently loved them both as young adults.

radiohead's music really resonates with me. i think everyone should go listen to them at least just once : it's the experience of a lifetime. first time i listened to them , i was stunned, just asking myself " how did i not discover this band sooner "??!1 maybe it's the message, maybe it's just thom yorke's lyrical genius, maybe the instruments,..

my favorite album from radiohead.. guess what it is... IN RAINBOWS

in rainbows is by far my favorite album and not only for radiohead but my favorite of all time, you wanna know a fun fact ? actually , im the same age as my favorite album ( i was born 13 days after its release , on the 23th of october 2007, cool huh ??!1) i even own it physically on a cd :3

why is it my favorite album ? well well... i got a big list of reasons including that the title itself resonates with me a lot since i'm.. a ..well let's just forget that FOR A WHILE and let's list the other reasons.....

the album explores various themes thoughout its tracks, making it an unique album full of human emotions and experiences that we can easily relate to:

emotional spectrum

the opener of the album ,15 steps deals with disorientation, self-blame, and the transient nature of relationships. it also introduces a rare sense of joy in radiohead's catalog with catchy rhythms. bodysnatchers: explores anger, frustration with physical limitations, and the threat of mental illness. it represents the feeling of being trapped in one's own body and mind.

love / desire

many tracks on the album reveal a raw, introspective side. the track nude examines vulnerability and the pain of baring one's soul. the lyrics throughout the album are personal and relatable, touching on themes of obsession, heartache, and self reflection. ( angelic ahh track ) ( ouuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ) weird fishes/arpeggi: captures the overwhelming feeling of attraction and subsequent disappointment. it portrays the experience of being possessed by desire only to be left unsatisfied.

one of my favorite tracks for the album, all i need expresses unrequited love and desperation. it's a darkly swooning track about longing for someone who seems oblivious to your presence. i didn't necessarily relate to the narative of the track but it is one that helped me go throught a complex grief of someone that i deeply loved and whose love after his "death " flew like dust in my hands. now i'm quite happy that i don't listen to this track the way i used to back in april 2023 but like a page that has been turned now since long.

transience and permanence

videotape contemplates the impermanence of material wealth in the face of mortality and an uncompromising universe. it uses the imagery of rainbows to symbolize identity and individuality. (STOP EYES ROLLING AT ME let me yap pls )

mortality and existence

faust arp: addresses the dissolution of life and love. smh ,it compares the end of a relationship to squeezing the last bit of toothpaste from a tube. (interesing comparasion thomas edward yorke i'm noting this down *scribble scribble* )

reckoner: explores themes of facing death ( oohhhh quirky ) and spirituality.

house of cards:(- like the netflix series ????!! -bitch no...) presents a complex take on the adultery invitation trope, touching on themes of denial and complicated relationships ( could have been, added in : love / desire but meh )
